Beautiful Islamic Character

Turn belief into honesty, patience, mercy and responsible conduct.

Truthfulness and trust

  • Speak truth even when inconvenient; fulfil promises and return trusts.
  • Honesty includes work hours, schoolwork, sales descriptions, taxes, borrowing and digital identity.
  • Apologise and correct misinformation instead of defending a known mistake.

Patience, gratitude and anger

  • Sabr is steady obedience and restraint—not accepting abuse or refusing help.
  • Practise shukr with the heart, tongue and responsible use of blessings.
  • When angry, pause, seek refuge in Allah ﷻ, lower your voice, change posture and delay irreversible decisions.

Parents, family and neighbours

  • Treat parents with gentleness without obeying anyone in wrongdoing.
  • Protect family rights, children’s safety and the dignity of elders.
  • A neighbour’s rights include safety from your harm, practical care and respect for privacy—regardless of faith.

Speech, gossip and forgiveness

  • Backbiting is saying something true about a person that they dislike; slander adds what is false.
  • Do not forward allegations without verification or disguise mockery as humour.
  • Forgiveness is virtuous, while boundaries, justice and reporting abuse remain legitimate.

Mosque and public etiquette

  • Keep the mosque clean and calm, silence devices, avoid blocking passages and make room for others.
  • Eating, sleeping and travel manners begin with Allah ﷻ’s name, moderation, cleanliness and care for companions.
  • Public adab includes queues, roads, noise, accessibility and protecting shared spaces.

Social media etiquette

  • Verify before sharing; seek permission before posting people or private messages.
  • Avoid showing off, endless argument, harassment, sexual content and outrage that hardens the heart.
  • Use time intentionally and curate feeds that support faith, family, health and useful knowledge.
